Rolling Up the Sleeves

I've made the decision over the past few weeks (while my kids are away on vacation), that I am officially transforming myself from "Tea Party Supporter" to all out "Pissed Off and Vocal as Hell Activist".  Why, because I really am pissed off, and have been trained to be vocal as hell in a very effective way.  And it all starts tonight.

So, I guess my disgust really began to flare up about 2 1/2 years ago.  I was reconnecting with some old friends on Facebook.  Some of which I hadn't seen in 18 years.  One of which, we were really close in high school.  Within days of reconnecting and catching up, I found myself victim of a total all-out hissyfit blast.  Why?  Because *APPARENTLY* I am only entitled to my opinion as long as it echoes theirs.

Everything spiraled after that.  With the campaign trail in full-force, my husband and I were pushed into corners at family functions because we were not blatant Obama supporters.  In fact, we opposed Obama's ticket because we educated ourselves on the issues, we didn't just listen to the narcissistic left slant of modern day media.  Beyond that, we were suddenly labeled "racists", "homophobes", well, basically elitist haters who love oppression.  Huh?

Enough!  You want to know who I am?  I'm a mom.  I'm a mom whose childrens' (and grand-children's) very livelihoods have been mortgaged.  Our right to believe in our God (who is our only hope) has been diminished.  My children risk losing specialized healthcare they need because of their condition, and will be forced by law to be immunized.  My husband may still have a job now, but if he loses that, we're hosed-- why?  THERE ARE NO JOBS OUT THERE!  Point is, things have gotten much, much worse, not better, and when I point that out, I get labeled with some kind of unfounded and childish "ism" to silence my opposing voice.

Here's what we need: A formal, like-minded band of stay-at-home parents to stand in solidarity for the rights of our children and their future.  Parents who are not afraid to take a smart policy-driven stand.  Parents who are not afraid to let their kids take part in fighting back themselves to take back the future that was rightfully theirs.  We need to not only be their advocates, but we need to teach them to fight young, fight hard, and fight smart.  Why?  So not only will they know that they helped in changing history by overcoming the tyrranical Goliath that is our Government, but this will never, ever happen again, because they are prepared.

I have prayerful confirmation that this is the path God desires.  Who's with me? . . .or are ya gonna just sit there?

  1. This response is not the perfect piece I was hoping to write, but I have already spent far too long on it and I need to get some work done! :)

I feel your rage. I have been surrounded by those same Kool-Aid drinking drones. My only point of contention with you is not your faith itself, but the insistence by the right to anchor their arguments in their faith. Again, I am not making an argument for or against anyone's religion.

What I think is the biggest failure on the right is not recognizing the need to gain deeper support from all categories of non-Christians, including atheists. The left uses your faith as its main reason to denounce the rest of your beliefs. But many (most?) conservatives make it easy for them by insisting that God is the sole reason, ultimately, for limited government. Even if true, the problem with that is it makes it impossible for someone who doesn't believe in God to follow the rest of the argument. Then, as I said, they directly oppose you on every successive point.

Hey, I know the founders told us that we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights. But it is really easy (but thoroughly inaccurate) these days to dismiss those guys as being out of touch with the needs of a modern society. I'm not asking anyone to disregard their faith. All I am saying is we have to show a secular basis for rights and liberty or else the non-believers will continue to side with the left. Help them bridge that gap and they can help take our country back.
